
Mommy and Me: This ministry is for mothers and their newborn children up to age three. Simple lesson plans will introduce children to their Orthodox Faith, always giving parents useful tools to bring the lesson home. This group is an opportunity for mothers to share in faith and fellowship through interaction with their young children. The group meets twice a month and field trips, a puppet show, and animal farms are only a few of the exciting activities on the calendar.
H.O.P.E.: Hellenic Orthodox Primary Education is a ministry for children ages 4-6 years old. At H.O.P.E. children will learn about their Orthodox Faith through lessons, stories, plays, arts and crafts, and many fun–filled projects. Our youth staff looks forward to H.O.P.E. outings such as apple picking, movie nights, mini- golf, and much more!
J.O.Y.: Junior Orthodox Youth is a youth group for children ages 7-11 years old. While in J.O.Y. our youth will be exposed to their Orthodox Faith though interactive lesson plans, discussion groups, and video presentations. This youth group meets once a month at the Parish and it plans an excursion once a month as well. Some of the field trips include Canobie Lake Park, ice-skating, movie nights, overnight lock-ins and much more.
G.O.Y.A.: Greek Orthodox Youth Association is a ministry for children ages 12-17. This ministry intertwines all aspects of faith, fun and fellowship through discussion sessions, field trips, community and social outreach. Some activities include ski trips, New York, Cape Cod, dinner and movie nights and much more! This group meets twice a month and plans an activity once a month.
Altar Boys: Boys ages 8 and over are encouraged to serve our Lord as Altar Boys during the Liturgical Services. This experience allows them the unique opportunity to learn more about our faith and traditions. Training takes place throughout the year.
Basketball Leagues: Currently we have two teams in the Metropolis of Boston JOY Basketball League. All children ages 8-13 are encouraged to participate. Teams practice once a week and games are played from November to March on Saturdays.
Youth Choir: Children ages 8-18 are encouraged to be a part of this special ministry, as they will learn beautiful hymnology of the Orthodox Church. The goal by the end of the year is to have our young people chant the Divine Liturgy by themselves.
Metropolis of Boston Camp: This six-week overnight camp for children ages 8-18 seeks to allow all participants the opportunity to grow in their faith, meet many other young people from across the Metropolis and allow for a tremendous amount of fun. Over 600 campers per year attend this tremendous program and every child you should have the opportunity to attend. More information can be found at www.boston.goarch.org.
Vacation Church School: This faith based day camp for our youth ages 4-12 is a wonderful opportunity for children to learn more about their faith while having fun. The children will begin their day with a short prayer service followed by sessions which include Orthodox Life, music, arts and crafts, and much more. Please note that there is no set fee for your child to attend this program, however free-will donations are greatly appreciated. More information can be found at www.boston.goarch.org.
Ionian Village Summer Camp: Located on the coast of the Ionian Sea, the Ionian Village offers the perfect setting for young people to experience the beauty of Greece and to grow in their Orthodox faith. The crystal blue waters of the Ionian Sea, the camp’s pine forests, Byzantine Chapel, white-washed cabins, Olympic-size swimming pool, athletic fields and courts, private beach, and amphitheater create the setting for an unforgettable experience. There are three programs which are offered each summer for a specific age group: Summer Travel Camp (ages 12-15); Byzantine Venture (ages 16-18); Spiritual Odyssey (Young Adults, ages 19 and older).
